CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme) is one of the main health and safety qualification schemes used by prospective clients to appraise a company’s competence before sending out tenders. It is a scheme run by the Government enabling organisations large and small to easily show their health & safety competence, or to check the competence of other contractors they are considering engaging the services of. It helps clients to see that you are meeting minimum health and safety standards, as legally required.

Organisations such as schools, local authorities, NHS, some councils and other large building contractors will specify that to be considered for a contract with them you must be CHAS registered. Not being CHAS registered can often be a barrier preventing you from expanding your business by securing new contracts or even prevent you from keeping existing ones.

BAS have both Constructionline and CHAS accreditation as CDM Co-ordinators and we are expert in helping companies complete the questionnaire.
